Mid-Missouri's only casino
Missouri has 13 licensed commercial casinos. Four are in the St. Louis area, four around Kansas City, and four sit in river towns on the state's edges: St. Joseph, La Grange, Cape Girardeau and Caruthersville. The thirteenth is Boonville, the only one along the roughly 250 miles of I-70 between the two metros.
The property opened on 6 December 2001 as a $75 million build, the fourteenth casino its then-owner had launched, with the pitch that Boonville and Kansas City together put a casino within convenient reach of two-thirds of Missouri's residents. The town it landed in has a population a little over 8,000; the casino brought more than 800 jobs, close to one for every ten residents. Columbia is about half an hour east, and that catchment, rather than Boonville itself, is who the floor is built for.
Three owners, one name on the door
Isle of Capri Casinos ran the property for its first 16 years. Eldorado Resorts bought the company in May 2017, then merged with Caesars Entertainment in July 2020 and took the Caesars name. Through both deals Boonville kept its Isle of Capri branding, making it one of the few properties anywhere still trading under that name.
The practical consequence is that play here earns Caesars Rewards, the same credit as at Harrah's North Kansas City or Horseshoe St. Louis. One oddity: the hotel is separately flagged under Wyndham's Trademark Collection and turns up on Wyndham's booking system too.
What's on the floor
The casino floor is 28,000 square feet. Caesars' own fact sheet lists 800-plus slot machines and 16 table games, plus electronic roulette, craps and blackjack; third-party directories put the machine count nearer 600. Either way it is the largest floor outside the two metros.
The published table spread runs to blackjack and double-deck blackjack, craps, 21+3, Criss-Cross Poker, Cajun Stud, High Card Flush and EZ Baccarat. There is no poker room. The floor opened in 2001 with 900 machines and 28 tables, so the table pit has roughly halved in 25 years, the usual story at regional floors.
Hotel and dining
The hotel tower came four and a half years after the casino, opening on 12 May 2006 with 140 rooms including 26 junior suites, a fitness centre and a 7,000 square foot ballroom.
Dining is down to two from the three restaurants of opening day: The Brew Brothers for burgers, steaks and local microbrews, and Tradewinds Marketplace in the lobby for grab-and-go and breakfast.

The floor is not open around the clock all week. It opens at 8am daily. Sunday through Thursday closing times vary by listing, from 2am to around 5am; some show Friday and Saturday running 24 hours, others a 4am close. Call ahead for a late night.
Boonville is worth the stop on its own. It sits at mile marker 191.8 of the 240-mile Katy Trail, trailhead at the restored Katy Depot, and the 1932 MKT railroad lift bridge over the Missouri partially reopened to walkers and cyclists in 2016. The historic downtown is a few minutes from the casino.
